WOODSTOCK BAY
The existing boat launches at Woodstock and Pokegama Bays in Superior, Wisconsin, were facing significant degradation due to erosion and persistent wave action. This caused hazardous conditions for users and compromised the infrastructure’s longevity. Additionally, the area’s trail system required enhancements to improve connectivity and accessibility. Addressing these issues required not only physical upgrades but also careful environmental considerations, including the management of invasive species. Public engagement and securing ongoing project funding presented additional challenges.
AMI Consulting Engineers provided a comprehensive solution by redesigning the boat launches and improving trail connectivity. We conducted detailed surveys and performed an inventory of local vegetation and invasive species to ensure the project aligned with environmental requirements. AMI actively engaged the public by attending meetings and presenting project updates. Our team also created renderings, navigated the permitting process, and handled quarterly grant reporting to secure funding.
During construction, AMI provided administrative oversight, including shop drawing reviews, on-site construction observation, and review of payment applications. These efforts led to the successful completion of upgraded, durable boat launches and enhanced trail connections, ensuring safer recreational access while addressing environmental concerns.
