AMI provided project coordination and design engineering services for the St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park Boat Launch Improvement project. The 584-acre park has been restored to Oak Savannah prairies and the wooded ravines and bluffs are a hallmark of the park which fronts 3,800 feet of shoreline along the St. Croix River National Scenic Riverway. The park includes a campground, hiking and cross-county ski trails, pavilions, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and a boat launch.

This boat launch project provides patrons a new and improved boat launch at a wider range of water levels within the riverine system of the St. Croix River. This new three bay design utilizes the existing mooring piers. The design accommodates a future fishing pier with separation from boat traffic and ample depth to attract a variety of fish species. Changes in grade, along with the utilization of dredging in the area improve usability. AMI integrated the boat launch design with a new ADA compliant walkway with access to the existing docks, mill and overlay of the existing parking lot and curb improvements to better capture and control storm water runoff from the large parking lot supporting the popular boat launch.

Project work included a final construction plan set that meets all United States Army Corps of Engineers, National Fish and Wildlife Service, and MnDNR regulatory and agency requirements. The team secured required permits prior to construction; worked with the County to achieve a construction schedule minimizing impacts to park users, while being sensitive to reducing overall project costs and environmental impacts; and improved park user experience.
