ECHO TRAIL BRIDGE & CANOE RAMP
Enhancing trails & river access
AMI, in collaboration with VHB, provided comprehensive structural engineering services for a two-part project. The first part involved the expansion of the existing Echo Trail to connect it to the parking lot, which included extending the path and installing a new pedestrian bridge. AMI played a vital role in assisting VHB with the structural design, development of construction documents, and coordination with the bridge manufacturer. Our expertise encompassed the design of bridge abutment foundations, helical piers, and technical specifications for the structural components of the bridge and trail extension.
The second part of the project involved the installation of an access stairway, as well as a canoe and kayak launching ramp into the Green River. These amenities were designed to be conveniently accessed from the existing parking lot. AMI provided valuable insights during design team meetings with the NPS, offering guidance on construction challenges. Our involvement with VHB extended to the structural and marine design aspects, which included footing/foundation design, access and stair details, retaining walls, helical design, construction details, and specialized components for the kayak and canoe launch ramps. To ensure the quality of construction, AMI is also providing on-site Title III services and conducting special inspections of critical components during the launch construction.
