KREHER PARK REDEVELOPMENT
AMI provided marine civil engineering services for the new boat launch and hoist lift well for the City of Ashland, Wisconsin. AMI designed a four-bay boat launch, fish cleaning station, seasonal restroom facility, boat/trailer washing station, ample trailer parking and outdoor winter boat storage. The project also required a utility corridor plan across the site, redevelopment of a pedestrian trail along the water’s edge and design for a potential thoroughfare for vehicle traffic.
AMI provided designs for four double wide boat ramps with adequate vehicle flow throughout the area. One boat ramp’s design incorporated an accessible ramp with accessible boarding dock. Design of the asphalt parking lot provided maximum number of parking spaces for vehicle/trailer combination units with parking lot signs, painted lines and parking barriers. AMI incorporated lighting schematics for security and use for dusk and night operations.
The design Lift Well support structure accommodated a 50-ton Marine Travel Hoist with 20’ beam. The trailer and boat wash station were designed to accommodate a mix of boats utilizing access and to serve the flow of traffic on site. Wash water was designed to be collected in the new sanitary water sewer corridor and existing lift station. The boat/trailer storage was designed along the top of the site near an old rail bed. This site also included refuse enclosures, benches/seating areas, minimal landscaping, lighted pathways, pedestrian bath between Ellis and Prentice Avenues-Railroad grade and boat slip power and water pedestals.
The AMI team incorporated many LEED standards, green infrastructure, and sustainable practices into this capped environmental superfund site.
